New Harmony Silhouette
What do you guys think about this Harmony's new offset guitar? Alder body, mini humbuckers, Made in USA and it's cost $1300.

I’d definitely like to try one, but gold foils usually don’t work for me.

That thing looks way too cool!
Just imagine how it could be when all those cheap brands from the 60s actually rebuild they're models on high quality!
Wooooooooh!

Hideous, also I'm not really seeing it as being offset.

Personally speaking I can't really think of much in the world of guitar design that I like that's happened since the sixties, so 'modernised' versions of things like this always look a bit weird to me.
The original version of this shape had a separate (hagstrom) trem and bridge, which worked better with that body shape, I think, and not keen on the rear routed knobs and separate scratchplate. One or the other imo.

It sounds idiotic to say - but it looks ‘cheap.’ I understand the vibe, but not for that money.
King Buzzo: I love when people come up to me and say “Your guitar sound was better on Stoner Witch, when you used a Les Paul. “...I used a Fender Mustang reissue on that, dumbass!

I dunno, for that kind of money you could get a vintage one.VPO wrote: ↑Mon Jul 22, 2019 10:51 amWhat do you guys think about this Harmony's new offset guitar? Alder body, mini humbuckers, Made in USA and it's cost $1300.

Not an offset, unfortunately (fortunately?).
I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

Re: New Harmony Silhoutte
Yeah. Not an offset.
And it does look cheap. What is going on with this thing? Were they going for "simple" but completely missed. I mean, something as simple as a 3-ply pickguard could have gone a long way to making it look better. Some nicer knobs. And... the paint job honestly looks like I did it while drunk.
And I agree with whoever said the Harmony body looks weird without the trem. Even more so than a Jazzmaster does.

Re: New Harmony Silhoutte
I’m just going to leave this here for reference. Truss rod cover was off for a while. Non original case, violin bow in orange sleeve. Technically the originals don’t have an offset waist either; but the elongated body, offset butt, Hagstrom trem and rocking bridge, extra chrome bits, blocks and binding & speckly tort give it that offset feel. Got lucky and paid close to the original 60s price over a decade ago.

Re: New Harmony Silhoutte
Tough crowd.
The stark white truss rod cover doesn't really do it for me, and the pickguard is a bit oversized for my liking. I'd also prefer Kluson-style tuners, but overall I like the look fine, even if the color palette is a little too Pinterest* for its own good .
*All colors will look good with some succulents and cacti and some framed needlepoint with the work "fuck" in it somewhere in the background.

Re: New Harmony Silhoutte
What's everyone's beef with the paint job? I thought the slate looked cool...
Don't you just hate it when a company "reissues" a unique/unusual guitar and strips away pretty much everything unique or unusual about it except for the body shape?
Literally every company does this, too.
