So is there any place to get a correctly shaped control plate?
Talk about the Fender Jazzmaster, Jaguar, and any other offset waist guitars with us!

That's a really good question. A lot of companies now selling them use the wrong picture, so it's hard to know what you're getting until it arrives.Bloozestringer wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 7:30 amSo is there any place to get a correctly shaped control plate?
Sorry for resurrecting an older thread, but was wondering if there was any update on this. I actually need one for a CIJ Mustang, which I assume actually makes things more difficult.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed Oct 20, 2021 6:20 pmThat's a really good question. So, the American Performer uses a part labeled as "13 PLATE CONTROL CYCLONE 0053718000" while the original Vintera uses "8 CONTROL PLATE MUSTANG 0094867000" and the Ben Gibbard seems to use the same plate ("7 CONTROL PLATE MUSTANG 0094867000").CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 4:51 pmThe control plates on the American performers are the correct design.volhoo wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 1:35 pmseems like the american performer mustang is less wonky - no?
I really want one of these - but now?

So by that information, I think this plate is the correct shape, looking at the serial number. So, the American Performer uses a part labeled as "13 PLATE CONTROL CYCLONE 0053718000" while the original Vintera uses "8 CONTROL PLATE MUSTANG 0094867000" and the Ben Gibbard seems to use the same plate ("7 CONTROL PLATE MUSTANG 0094867000").
Why even have two different parts for the same thing?
I would just love to know why there's two part numbers for what's supposed to be the same part.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 4:12 pmYeah, they seem to have corrected the control plate on all new Vintera II Mustangs.
Also, my 2022 built Jag-stang has the correct control plate too.
So, it seems all Mexican Mustangs and Jagstangs made during/after 2022 now have the correct shape.
Funny thing is, now Japan are using the wonky ones on their Mustangs.
Yep, that one is correct.gerardguey wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 4:40 pmSo by that information, I think this plate is the correct shape, looking at the serial number.

It would be interesting to find out out how the crap version came to be. There's no deviation in the design with any vintage Mustangs, not even the 70s Mustangs.GilmourD wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 5:06 pmI would just love to know why there's two part numbers for what's supposed to be the same part.CROSS_guitars wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 4:12 pmYeah, they seem to have corrected the control plate on all new Vintera II Mustangs.
