I figure it's a factory job. I think it looks great!

I'm seriously tempted by this. Even if I'm not wild about the pups, if it sounds good unplugged I'll just whip them out and put some Novaks in, and keep the originals if I ever want to sell. I think this could be my 30th birthday present right here, assuming the price stays OK...

It's currently about the retail price of an AVRI in the UK.

nah, it's a 70's JM, what you want to do is whip out the stock pickups, fire some mega-high-output humbuckers in there, refinish it in poo brown and ROCK OUT!  ;)

It is a looker.

I'm very fond of the tobacco burst look. I wish I'd known about it when I got mine refinned.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

HELL YEAH. I was thinking some Hot Rails, and a red scribble refin.

oh no! :o
even if it's a coronado neck (which i'm not sure it is) someone HAS taken away a huge chunk of wood  from the round tip of the headstock. it's way too small for both CBS jazzmaster/strat and coronado. and of you look carefully you see that the finish has a lighter color where the wood has been removed. and it becomes even more obvious if you look at the back, the high E tuner is right by the edge:

sad, sad business, it was such a beautiful guitar  :(

I don't dig the finish on that... is it original and just faded? Looks weird to me.
Times change.  Remember when dog Jimmy used to go white and chalky?  Now it grows hair!  We got used to it. We'll get used to poly. -blueavenger

Original and just faded. I like it. I like those 70s sunburst finishes more so than the 70s clown-burst ones.

Sucks about the headstock. I didn't even notice that! I didn't know that's what people meant by the headstock being shaped differently. I don't think it's a Coronado headstock anymore, either.

no, i'm pretty sure it's the original neck. if it was a coronado neck the "hook" on the headstock would look off. this one looks perfectly normal to me.

i love that sunburst.

Good call. I just tried to photograph mine under roughly the same angle, and the differences are really clear:

Edit: I know mine has a replaced nut (brass now), but on mine it's still within the binding. The black nut on the one in question seems to have been inserted through the binding. Also fishy, no?
