Some of my guitars might be worth more now but I've never spent more than 400€ on an instrument, I need some time to choose ;D

Jerry Jones shorthorn (short scale) bass. I paid $650 for it just as JJ was getting ready to retire.

It was in this shape when I bought it...but it's quite a player!

Per the rules I don’t think that’s going to qualify. $650 is already pushing the top end, but that music machine is worth more than that.

I mean, I have a 1961 Telecaster, a 1962 Jaguar, a 1973 Rickenbacker 4001, and a 1976 Gibson Explorer and paid less than $650 for each of them, but they are all worth much more than that now. Heck, I paid less than $650 for the Tele and Explorer combined.

But I can't disagree.

...so that'd be the real #14

Well ok this time I'm in! Since, i guess, the Squier Vista Jagmaster, Venus and Jarman guitars are outta the sub-600 league, I decided to enter with this amazing bargain:

Outta Germany, a late 60s Framus BL10 with the wonderful HiFi pickups in the (Brazilian, i guess?) rosewood casing. :-*

If you come across one of these, GET IT, before the guy from Arcade Fire picks them all up!

so i've already entered mine for this but i kinda wonder what makes a guitar sub £600. i have 2 guitars that i was tempted to mention but both would fall out of the price if you were going by reverb prices rather than how much i actually paid and what condition i got both in.
Image
so these were the 2 i thought might be iffy. the white vista jagmaster cost me £300 simply because of it's condition. it's far from mint.
as for the cij jaguar. i paid £275 for it but basically had to spend £200 on misc parts to get it back to its glory

both of these on reverb would go for more.

It's not easy to say exactly how much a guitar is worth if it's not in production anymore, so the "about" in the rules was deliberate. I'm not going to chase anyone with an "I found this on Reverb for £510!" or anything like that. Even with brand new models, I'm sure you'll be able to find examples of the same guitar either side of the threshold in different shops.

OSG is generally a friendly place, and this tournament is just a bit of fun, so I'm happy to let people decide for themselves if something is eligible. I think the "don't take the piss" rule is a good way to settle things like this. If you honestly think that £500 would be a fair price to sell it for, that's good enough for me.

Höfner Colorama 163 from 1964 that I got this year for next to nothing. Only needed a cleanup, setup and a set of nicer tuners.

I was about to show you a vintage Gibson guitar. When I got curious, it seemed doubtful that anybody would be willing to spend more that 600 € for a Melody Maker SG with non original hardware. (but that was pre-pandemic market ;) ). It's on the workbench right now for a fret level and better bridge. Yesterday I got so mad because everything was stuck and badly drilled, that I almost decided to pull off the test at the big flea market that should happen next Saturday.
But things are starting to sort out, and haven't i held on to the guitar for more than 30 years now?

Sparkle Motion Zwölf 12-string:
Image

this started as a poorly assembled Pit Bull/Fretwire kit that I picked up for $100 on facebook Marketplace. Added a Faction 12 string plate, 12-string TOM bridge, Lindy Fralin -5% wound soap bars, a Chinese-made 12 string neck & Wilkinson tuners. The neck had a 2-1/4" heel that had to be shaved down & the fingerboard is wide- it plays like a dream.

Just giving this a bump seeing as the Premier League season ended yesterday. We're currently up to 17 entries.

Theme is guitars under ~£500 (~$600, $600).

Just got this for $510 US, and it plays great! I already had a Mastery bridge so I threw that on, if that disqualifies it I’ll swap the bridge out and take another photo!

EDIT: added a cat sticker and removed the actual cat.

Motion to disqualify this entry for the presence of a precious baby ginger boy whose value is clearly beyond measure.

The fact you know enough about cats and their genetic predispositions to make the, likely correct, assumption that it is more than likely male means that your motion has weight and expertise.

Seconded.

Oh, and pss pss pss.... :-*
