Fender Jaguar Johnny Marr pot values
Hi everybody,
I have read that Marr Jaguars came loaded with 1M pots from factory.
I bought mine new (2018 model). It has 250K pots for both volume and tone.
I love it as it is. But out of curiosity, does anyone know when specs changed, if they did?
Thanks!

Odd... The service manual says it should be 1M.

I wonder if they goofed and grabbed pots out of the wrong bin or sorted them wrong. Do you have pics of the backs of the pots you can post?

Even if they put in the wrong pots, it sounds like they put in the *RIGHT* pots
All kidding aside, unless someone is regularly using the series mode on the Marr without the bass cut enabled, I do think this is a change for the better. 250k pots would make it easier to switch guitars on the same rig (i.e. you don't have to adjust your EQ in your signal chain just to make the Jaguar sound good). Additionally, 250k pots generally work better at smoothly controlling volume/tone than 1meg pots.

Strangely enough, both pots are 250K...GilmourD wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 6:26 amOdd... The service manual says it should be 1M.

Here is a pic (I changed the capacitor, the rest is 100% stock):

Very true! I am happy with those pots, and with this guitar. Only mod so far is the tone cap so I can fine tune the brightness / warmth if needed. That's when I noticed.alexpigment wrote: ↑Tue Apr 15, 2025 6:58 amEven if they put in the wrong pots, it sounds like they put in the *RIGHT* potsAll kidding aside, unless someone is regularly using the series mode on the Marr without the bass cut enabled, I do think this is a change for the better. 250k pots would make it easier to switch guitars on the same rig (i.e. you don't have to adjust your EQ in your signal chain just to make the Jaguar sound good). Odd.
I now also feel like maybe I should check to see what pots are in mine. LOL

I just got curious and popped the hood on my '23 build Marr Jag. 1 meg pots all the way.

Yeah '23 would have been in the heart of the supply chain shortages and you still were getting 1 Megs. That said I could see them throwing in 250k if they had a shortage of 1 Megs on hand in the factory that day/week etc. I can check mine later today.
Edit: both 1 Meg
