For anyone who is curious, I just replaced the stock AOM bridge with the descendant bridge, it dropped right in, no modification required, and it’s an absolutely excellent bridge.

That's good to know. I finally changed to a Staytrem bridge, using the springs and screw insert (definitely not the proper name!) mod. Really happy with how it's playing now.

Is this the Adapt-O-Matric Descendant bridge you’re both using or does the Companion model somehow fit? Never seen a Descendant and I’m curious.

£220 for the Descendent mind :o

Bold move being 3x the price of a Staytrem and more than a Mastery.

Is there anything in particular that sets them apart?

That’s not too bad.

Ah I wonder if it's to do with import tax then as UK stockist is much more expensive.

I had a look at that site yesterday and did the maths vs importing. They’re charging what you’d pay for import if you pay in pounds on the American site. £104 + £32 shipping and add 22% tax plus a tenner handling fee. The UK seller is probably saving you a fiver. I suppose you could take the chance of not getting customs duties and taxes added on, but it’s been years since I’ve got anything through like that.

Yay for Brexit and the increased border infrastructure. Knocking on absolutely everywhere. I don’t understand why they punish us when buying from abroad. Our cousins across the pond can bring in up to $800 via courier - we can’t even bring in something that fits in our pocket. Buying from the EU is worse because most places don’t give a shit about us and will charge you EU VAT, then our lot want you to pay them VAT too. Adds 50%, that, when you tack on handling fees.

Two cost effective bridge options are the jazz-o-matic (I did this with the eyguitar mustang bridge and it works great) and the grubscrew mod.

So I just finished modding my JMJM...

I detailed the mods earlier in the thread, but I'll list them all here;
  • Pickups and Electronics
    • Sunday Handwound Pickups Iola Set
    • Treble Bleed — 270k Ω and 2200 pF in series
    • Sheilded with Copper Tape and twisted positive and negative leads whenever possible
    • Sheilded Pickup covers
    • B1M Volume and A1M Audio Pots
  • Body and Hardware
    • Swapped in a mustang bridge — using an M8 cup point grub screw and spring
    • AVRI Tremolo
    • Swapped in white knobs and rhythm circuit switch
  • Neck
    • Shimmed Neck with 0.25° shim
    • Flat Bottom Bone Nut
    • Gotoh SD91 Staggered Locking Tuners
    • Sanded Neck with #0000 Steel Wool for a satin finish
    • Levelled and crowned the frets
  • Misc
    • Thomastik Infeld Jazz Swing .013 set
    • Stickers for more toan
    • A glow in the dark moustache, that's been there for a decade at this point
Now it sounds, and feels, incredible. The trem feels incredibly high quality compared to what I had; it's smoother, more solid, and has more range. The flatwounds and pickups mellow out the highs to the point where I can find usable tones above 6 on the tone knob; and I can roll back the volume without sounding dark and muddy. It resonates well and plays without any issues.

I've turned my #1 into even more of a #1 😂 At this pont the only further upgrades I can make would essentially ship of thesius her!
Woof Woof (she/they)
