Some nice pics of a jazz xii and rascal bass on the offset subreddit.
I saw that and sent it to my (Bullet Mustang owning) wife asking why our recent trip to Guitar Center wasn't like that. 😅

Any idea if the upcoming Squier Jazzmaster XII will have a wider neck than the 6 string version?
I fear it will indeed, right? So they won't have same neck-pocket as a normal 6 str. Jazzmaster, right?
Specs say 1.6875" (42.86 mm) on Fender's site, which is narrower than I would have expected but also makes sense for Squier's general audience mostly being members of The Skinny Nuts Club. I don't see a spec for heel width, though, but that makes me think it's standard width (making this possibly a good body to transplant a standard neck onto for a hardtail string-through Jazzmaster).

I was hoping I could get one of these new XII ones and swap necks with a Squier Jazzmaster VM that I have around.

A Jazzmaster without the vibrato plate (and no rhythm circuit) feels/looks much too naked for me.
I could lock the vibrato, but I do like having that extra 'dead' string section after the bridge.

Alternative is to start modding that new XII right away with a vibrato plate. Possibly one of those flat fixed ones, or a normal (but locked) vibrato tailpiece, but it'd be cool if necks could simply be swapped...
So... 12 strings on a threaded saddle Jazzmaster bridge with a hardtail plate cut for 12 strings?

Like this but two offset (ha, didn't even mean that) rows of slots?

That would be great! (Almost too good to be true... let's see...).

And it solves the luxury problem of which one to choose ;) : the OW, or the LPB, since I don't have a need for hardtail JM, so that can then be sold. The result will be a JM VM with swapped-smurf-hat-neck = a Jazzmaster XII in CAR.

I do realize a Sq JM JM would possibly be a good donor candidate as well, since it'd be possible to swap the TOM-bridge for a 12-string type as well, but those JM JM (at least the ones I've played) are way too good to 'abuse'/mod.

Yes, like that, and I've seen that these for 12 indeed exist as well.

BUT... I've also learned (somewhere over here at OSG) that an existing stock tailpiece (6 holes) will work as well for 12 strings. Less elegant, but as I understood it won't lead to string-breaking or other conflicts. So definitely a good starting point to simply keep the existing arrangement.

standard vintage style jazzmaster bridges with threaded saddles could also kinda work for a 12 string too.

If the XII body does have a standard heel width you could throw a toronado bridge on and make it look like a jazzmaster version of a duo-sonic which i think would be quite cool.

Thanks for the response. Yes, would fit, and also not, I've stopped using the threaded saddles since strings kept popping out and I don't overdo it wrt hitting strings too hard.

So I went for a Mustang-bridge (Mastery repl. incompatible with wound G, but should try me the Staytrem one day)

Possibly there's a Mustang-type-ish with 12 slots as well.

Sounds good, nice, that would already look better indeed.
I also saw a kind of surround somewhere that could be added for this 'effect'.

What I would probably do at this point is take a CV bridge, get some brass rod in the same diameters (yes, multiple diameters, unless you just flatten the bottoms of the Es, A, and B saddles to adjust the heights) as the Mustang bridge for 9.5" radius, cut them to length, drill and tap for the intonation screw, and then notch each for the appropriate strings. All things that CAN be done with hand tools at home... Theoretically. LOL

Given that it's a 12-string I doubt it's going to get beaten on as much with the picking hand as a standard guitar, however, so the standard Jazzmaster/Jaguar threaded saddle bridge would probably work just as well as long as it's set high enough for good down pressure.

True, might not be a direct issue. So will definitely try a bridge with threaded saddles first. My DIY-chops less mechanical, more electronical ;)

Heres a couple o my XII builds with jazzy bridges, Great option for personalising string spacing.

Ive not had the string popping off thing with these but I put this down to the string angle, being hardtailed..

I ordered a white Jazzmaster XII last Wednesday direct from Fender - Showed up today. Tuned up, truss rod adjust, and played it for 1.5 hours.

If they are all as nice as this one, you all will be impressed.

Awesome! Congrats. Will you do a NGD thread?

There's a new video online about the series and it's much more enjoyable than the one from Andertons: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ceUPKUu7J5Y&feature=share7

Someone in the Jazzmaster XII thread discovered if you go the Fender's website and set the region to "Americas" you'll find an extra color for each of the new Paranormal models.
They are Fiesta Red, Sapphire Blue Transparent, Shell Pink, and Blue Sparkle.

I'm sure some Fender dealer in '64 looked at the new Duo-Sonic II and thought, "That's not a Duo-Sonic. That's a Mustang".

After what you told me, I was ready to pull the trigger and go for Esquire Mocha but seeing that it will also come out in Blue Sparkle I'll have to wait, it's my favorite color, I already have the supersonic modded with just one pickup too, i cant Believe it! :w00t: I hope it won't take another year, I don't want to wait forever haha :'(
