EB Music Man StingRay guitars anyone?

Post by Kutt » Sun Mar 26, 2023 1:19 am

Dare I stray from the Fender path and ask if we have any fans of the current Music Man StingRay guitar? I absolutely love them and put together a collection between about 2017-2020. Contoured heel, stainless steel frets, compensated nut, locking tuners, and more. Mine consist of the original run with satin finished necks. The later ones have the trademark EBMM oil/wax finished necks.

I've got one of the new Stingray basses. It's a top noch instrument, so I'd expect the guitars to be similar. Unfortunately, MM stuff is really pricey.

Dustin from Thrice is a big fan. I’d definitely try one but never seen a lefty in the UK.

Also, his signature model is :?

No dog in the fight when it comes to MM but I really wish Fender would do more with chrome control plates. Useful and looks good!

I used to own a Stingray bass and the quality of the instrument was so fantastic I would buy anything MusicMan made sight unseen if I was interested.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Stingray is the only bass that out Jazz-basses a Jazz Bass.

I can one hear in a mix from a mile off. It’s a really unique sound.

I have the same guitar you posted. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is 2nd to none! That being said the neck is a wee to bit modern for me so I’m currently selling! Haha

I'd love to try one. I have a one EBMM bass and used to own another - both incredible instruments. I also had one of the original 1977 StingRay guitars, and it was gorgeous and weird.

These don't have quite as much chrome, but the shape is there, and I'm sure the pickups sound more conventional than the quirky active system in my '77.

I'm also sure that the modern EBMM neck would be an absolute delight, they do such a great job on those.
