NGD...Guess the Guitar?
NGD - Want to guess the guitar? Probably will be fairly easy to figure out by my clues...
1. It was a pre-order
2. It's an Offset
3. I've never had one of these guitars before - loving it!

American Vintage 2 Jazz Bass.
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

I'm guessing that it's one of those FSR Bass VIs.

Re: NGD...Guess the Guitar?
Close...so close, Larry!
I knew it wouldn't take long! Congrats, Mike! Yup, it's a Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI in Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock I had pre-ordered some time ago from Chicago Music Exchange.
Forgot to put on the tremolo bar (after removing the 2 layers of pickguard protective plastic)...
What a fun guitar/bass! I admit I held sort of a bia against owning one since I thought it might be a novelty or fairly limited in what I can do with it. It's great for a lot surf tunes (classic and modern) but folks here on OSG and YT have shown that there is so much more depth to a Bass VI. I'm so looking forward to some Bass VI exploration.
The headstock photo isn't exactly accurate re: the nut. The low E and high E are spaced about the same from their respective neck edges. I've been reading (and I need to go back for a refresher) on the Bass VI thread re: replacing the nut since some folks have not so evenly spaced string cuts in their Bass VI nut.
I'll also look into getting some new strings at some point. I prefer roundwounds, so recommendations are welcome.
The tuning on the Low E was actually a bit tricky at first but it seems to be holding reasonably well.
Also - it's so much fun to play!!

Ahhhh, damn, too slow. I just checked the available colors and had the LPB in mind…
Anyhow, congrats! Enjoy!

I was eyeing the purple metallic one but never pulled the trigger. My last band the bass player layer a squier bass vi and I was always really surprised at how versatile it was

Congrats on the NGD! The LPB finish is gorgeous. Not sure what your primary instrument is, but for me as a guitarist, a bass VI really feels like the perfect bass in that I can still write and demo normal bass parts with it as well as play it more like a guitar. Super cool instrument, hope you enjoy yours!

Re: NGD...Guess the Guitar?
Congrats! I use the roundwound Stringjoy set on my VI and they work well for me. Good amount of gauge options too if I remember correctly.

The purple one is awesome, too! Yeah, the Bass VI is a keeper!
Thanks! Primary is guitar but bass is a close second - I honestly enjoy playing both! The Bass VI is a cool hybrid.ryanthellama wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 11:26 pmCongrats on the NGD! Great to know, thanks! The gauge on the stock strings seem totally fine - Fender Nickel Plated Steel (.024-.084, Gauges). I'm a fan of D'Addario strings and may give their D'Addario EXL156 XL Nickel Wound Bass VI Guitar Strings - .024-.084 set a try when I'm ready to swap out the stock strings. I'll get a pack of the Stringjoy set as well to try out - thanks!

Re: NGD...Guess the Guitar?
I know a lot of folks around here tend to recommend a heavier low E than comes stock on the Squier, and I definitely found that to feel nicer for me. Has a bit more tension and feels less floppy. I’ve been using a Stringjoy 26-95 set and like that a lot.Surfysonic wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 8:06 amGreat to know, thanks! Re: NGD...Guess the Guitar?
Does anyone know if the WD Custom Pickguards Squier Vintage Modified Bass VI pickguard will fit the Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI? I'm thinking a nice mint will go nicely with the LPB finish...
Althernatively, I'm open to other aftermarket Squier CV Bass VI pickguard sellers or any OSG members who make these pickguards.
