For rust on chromed parts I usually remove from the body, spray a little WD40 and rub gently with 0000 steel wool.

This one has star inlays. Most I see have dots.. But then again, I don't see many.

I played one in Ochanomizu. I instantly fell in love with the playability. The chrome was in better shape, but the body was a bit rougher than this one.

So turns out that is not rust. This bridge plate was actually gold at one point. I need to clean it up too. Looks bad but promising..

The all gold hardware makes me think this was their nicer model, that and the star marker inlays on the neck.
