NGD...Abernethy Sonic Empress
My b-day present to myself has just been finished. I don't have it yet, but I am waiting very eagerly for it.
I had two guards made for it and kept the relic veeeeerrrry light because I am clumsy enough and I do not baby things, even though I should...
Sherwood green looks great!

Oh wow! Saw that one on IG and thought whoever ordered it was getting a beauty. Hope it plays as good as it looks!

Very nice. Colour is sublime, reminds me of aged Pelham Blue.

Thanks, I just got it today! So far so good!
I am terrible at describing pickups, but these sounds great, full and articulate/clear, even with gain!CorporateDisguise wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 3:53 amBeauty! I love that body shape.

Excuse the poor lighting! This is a size comparison of the Abernethy with a bilt and jazzmaster.
I received the guitar this morning and the box was much smaller than I anticipated. I almost didnt expect their to be a hardcase in the box!
The guitar is much smaller than I anticipated because the pictures I have seen had fooled me into thinking this was going to be a big body guitar
Anyway, this guitar is LIGHT, lighter than any electric I have ever owned. It's wild.
The neck on this feels wonderful and the guitar is just wonderful to play. I've never had any foil-type pickups, but this Mojo DualFoils sound great. They are really full and clear and articulate. Even the coil-split options don't sound shabby.
I think I've got a keeper. Something I can age with.

Sweet. I was thinking it was at least as large as a JM. It looks really good. It being light must have been a nice surprise.
I like the headstock design. It looks like something from a gypsy jazz guitar.
I had the luck of playing a guitar with those pickups, and they really are unique.

Mojo's Gold Foils are brilliant. I've always wanted to try these Dual Foils, I bet they sound superb.
Great looking guitar!

Insane trio. How does it compare to the Fender and especially the Bilt, qualitywise? And yes, I always had the impression that they were much bigger.

Re: NGD...Abernethy Sonic Empress
It could be that because this guitar is new and I'm in that "honeymoon" stage that my thoughts could be biased, but this is one of the best instruments I have ever played. Set-up incredibly well, neck feels great, volume and tone knobs have great tapers and it is so light. This isn't to say that the Fender MIJ and Bilt are slouches because those are both great guitars. They really are. The MIJ has such a nice neck and the contours on the body feel just right. I have to thank our very own @HNB for the guitar! The Bilt plays great too, I can't complain because the quality is top notch.
I did a very bootleg measuring of weight for all of my guitars:
Fender MIJ Jazzmaster: 8.8 lbs / 3.99 kg
Fender Player Jaguar: 8.8 lbs / 3.99 kg
Squier Bass VI: 9.2 lbs / 4.17 kg
Bilt: 8.5 lbs / 3.85 kg
Abernethy: 6.7 lbs / 3.03 kg
