Guitar Stores - recommendations in Tokyo?
Hey everyone,
I’m headed to Japan for the first time in a couple of weeks.
I’d love to ask for some Guitar Store recommendations from those of you who are in, or have been to Japan.
If this is the incorrect place for this post, I’ll gladly post accordingly.
Thanks!

you'll have a blast ! Ochanomizu is heaven - walk all the way to the bottom of the hill. there's a bunch on the way down, but another cool one near the massive sports stores. G-Club is on the corner at the bottom of the hill
Shibuya has a few cool shops too like ISHIBASHI

just noticed this one. never knew it existed until I googled "guitar shops shibuya" to get some sites for you:

make sure you check out tower Records up the street from Shibuya crossing. they now have a massive vinyl room

Great recommendations. Next time I'm going to Japan, Nov 2023, won't be going to Tokyo. Have you also been to Osaka & have recommendations?whitewatersky wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 5:28 pmcheck out this thread

Hm, in Osaka I seem to remember there's an Ikebe Gakki near Umeda station, or maybe that's in Amerika-mura? actually both. I bought a Mustang in one and a Jag in the other, over the years. Osaka's such a cool lowkey city, you can even get good coffee! Make sure you eat a lot.
Otherwise the Hard-Off stores are often good for random guitar finds.

Never been to Japan, but for acoustics this place looks amazing. They are in Shibuya.
I guess the one downside is it’s heavily focused on vintage and new US stuff. If I were guitar shopping in Japan I’d be most interested in domestic market stuff and not a Collings or vintage Martin I can’t afford.

Thank you so much the recommendations!!!!!
Time is limited, so I had to make choices, thus I’ll be visiting Tokyo, Kyoto, Koyasan, Tanabe.

Flatwounds are for psychopaths, or people that play jazz or want a duller tone
