I just read through this whole thread. Fantastic work, sir!! Just goes to show what patience & perseverance can bring.
The guitarist in my first band back in the mid 90's had one of these guitars. I always loved the oddball colour, compared to all the boring red, black & white guitars floating around.
I had a blue compstang for a few years that was waaaay too clean so I sold it. I kinda miss it as I love Mustangs. It has to be said though, Kurt or no Kurt (or in my case Steve Turner), orange is definitely the coolest colour of the available three.
Congrats.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

crash magnetic transducers sweetcaster set for mustang landed yesterday and installed last night... drunken ebay purchase of original 1969 mustang pickup set pulled from a bastardized crackwhore comp blue mustang arriving today... aw shit.
the plan - find another MOP guard and set of switches so i can swap back & forth between the two depending on my mood. but in all honesty if the OG pups don't outperform the sweets, sweets stay in. these things sound crazy good. to my ears nothing like a modern pup at all. sounds like a well used and aged full-bodied old school single coil should sound. the warmth and clarity is great. not thin. with the snappiness of the mustang they're perfect. mark winds a killer pickup at a killer price. UK based, fyi.
only had 10 or 15 min with the guitar late last night. frets could use a little dressing but i'm perfectly happy with it as is after i set things up. with kid asleep upstairs i couldn't be my normal loud self. with the DR103 running at reasonable conversation level and my DAM/SOLA MKII in chain i gave a quick demo a go. normally i'm behind/above the camera kicking pedals on and off. so advance apologies for messy clean noodling. fuzzed out is normally how things roll for me. and that's the plan for tonight. will add youtube link once it's done uploading.

thanks! i ordered it through
http://www.axetremecreations.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
it didnt look this good when it arrived. had checked the 'aged' option and i really wish i hadnt. didn't snap a picture of what it looked like straight out of the envelope... it was baaaad. i think they hit it with something abrasive in the middle, then used acid to give it that awesome (read that as vomit) relic look AND THEN beat it with some car keys. was ready to return it until i read their return policy which stated i was out of luck.
ended up using rubbing compound on it and a LOT of pressure to remove most of that 'patina' fake wear. it turned out alright, sans the abrasive middle part. will track down a real 69 plate someday.
