I have a 64 JM and it sounds great, now. I have had it since 1989 and I finally replaced the pots (some dink had put crappy mexican square pots in before i got it) and the slide switch.
Other than that it is all original and it sounds the balls.
I also changed the pickguard which was not original with a nice white one. The guitar is black refin.
When you finish yours you will love it.. Plus you will get tons of hot chicks.
Which you wont care about since you will want to play the thing instead.
