I'm sorry that this thread is 7 pages long and that there's been zero progress.

The truth is I've been thinking about selling all the vintage parts (body, pickguard, pickups, tailpiece) along with some of my vintage synths to raise money to move next year. That's why I've been dragging my feet on this. Still deciding...

I've picked another color, one that I had dismissed early on. To my surprise it works really great with the black pickguard, to me anyway. I'm not going to say yet but feel free to guess. I was able to figure it out with the Fender Mod Shop visualizer.

Here's a hint: Supposedly a country guitarist who played with a famous singer had a JM with this same color scheme. I say supposedly because I've never seen a color photograph of it.

I'm going to have Guitar Mill do the refin atm. I think they'll do what I want.

Supposedly Sonic Blue with a black anodized guard... but I haven't seen any color photos. But that's what I'm gonna do.

To my eyes it'll look great with the white pickup covers and tele knobs. It'll be aged like the the tele at the top of this page but less yellow, like the two below it. Those could be Daphne, not sure but it'll be SB.

I had to splice two photos from the mod shop to get the right knobs on.

Ooh, that's a great idea ! I was miffed about the whole thing because I thought the black anodized pickguard only worked with black pickup covers, but this mockup looks promising, and the Sonic Blue is very fitting for the fifties as well. And it can only be better than tort on blue, which some here love for some reason!

Loos great and very original. I don't recall seeing a JM like that. The anodized guard will be a great touch.
