Re: The time has come... (Poll)
Quick update. There is no update sorry to say. My friend agreed to do the finish but I haven’t had time to strip the body. He’s kind of like Danocaster, doesn’t want to do any prep work. I get it, of course. Now that the weather is warming up (but not this weekend!) I’ll get to it soon.

bump...
-So I think I have changed my mind and will stick with a 1960 finish. A metallic red wouldn't appear until 1963.
-Guitar Mill is doing refins again
With the black anodized guard, I've narrowed it down to these two:
Shoreline Gold or Inca SIlver
-Sunburst was the orignal color of my body but a 1960 burst and black ano guard just don't look right together.
-Oly White is just not my thing, too boring for me. Sorry not sorry. If this was Tort and a D&B neck, then Yes.
-Burgundy Mist or Fiesta is just too much
-LPB, Daphne or Sonic with black is... not it.
-Sherwood, Foam or Surf... nope.
-Shell pink.. nah.
last but not least...
-DAKOTA is cool but i'd prefer it with mint or tort.. but I'm not 100% on that.
-BLACK is not off the table

ALSO, how should I deal with this over sanded part? Build up layers of sanding sealer/grain filler? or??

Man, that seems like a pretty deep wound. I don’t feel like there’s an easy answer. Maybe there’s an epoxy wood filler that you could build up that would be strong enough. I think most fillers would just get easily crushed or dented if you built up an edge there.OffYourFace wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 7:45 pmALSO, how should I deal with this over sanded part? Here's my personal guitar with Shoreline Gold and a black anodized pickguard, if it helps at all. I think that Inca or Shoreline would both be awesome choices with that pickguard.

OK... I've changed my mind once again. The color I want is a dark metallic blue. Whatever this is called:
It's the color I've always wanted so I'm gonna do it. These dark blues that Ferrari used are what I imagined San Marino Blue would look like.
I think it'll look good with the aged black anodized guard. I just don't love Shoreline Gold or Inca Silver so why do that?

I love that! Alway wondered why there wasn't a darker blue hued Fender originally. That will look killer. Also love that it's something you want and not from a historical palette.

Oh yes!
I've lately turned my head for cars (which I normally don't do) - because I really like the color: "Obsession Blue" that Peugeot and others are using. Kind of a dark LPB meets OTM kinda thing that changes color depending on the light... I might actually paint one of my upcoming Jaguars in something like that.
What pickguard will you choose? It will/would look amazing with the black anodized one you already have!!
