My Sparkly Surfdream. A mostly vintage partsmaster.

After slowly collecting vintage parts for a jazzmaster on OSG over the years it's finally to start building my Jazzmaster.
The only Jazzmaster I have (and have played) is my 2012 Squier VM and I'm really curious how a vintage one plays (even thought it won't be a 100% vintage jazzmaster). But I love my vintage jags so I don't think i'll be disappointed.

The colour I'll keep a surprise, but those who follow Rexter on Instagram probably have seen it recently

It'll be a mix of mostly CBS parts and 58/59 parts .

The neck is a '68 coronado neck, that was originally found in Mexico by Pat, then travelled to the UK to Rexter and ended up in my hands way too long ago. I put it up for sale a few times before prices went up, but I ended up restoring it and matching it with original Smokers teeth Fender Grover tuners. So the neck is Pearloid heaven and I love it and it feels amazing since it got refretted.

The pickguard is a beautiful vintage tortoiseshell that I got from Gonkulator.

The knobs are two NOS white witchhats.

The pickups are a rewound 59 and 66 with a Mojo harness.

And I top it off with a Pat Pend tremolo with a Staytrem arm and bridge (that I still need to receive).

I guess all I need to find is a neckplate and a stewmac shim.

Cool! Is that the neck that has been cut into a Tele shape headstock?

First of all... I finally managed to upload pictures to IMGUR. So here are a few pictures of the parts, including one next to my new super-sonic:

Yes it is! It did take a refret and and an intense clean to get the neck in decent shape, but it looks nice now.
I kinda wanted to have the headstock matched to the body, but with Brexit the risk/potential double import costs are a bit too high.
I'm not sure what I'll end up doing with the headstock. Respray it, put a decal on it or just leave the ugly decal.

Also why was the Coronado neck cut into a tele shape? Just to make me die a little inside? ;D

I feel that mystery is buried in Mexico unless Pat can shed some light on this.
But the neck was in a really bad state in general, so it probably was a cheap project back when Coronado necks were cheap. The whole headstock is really small and needs a lot of effort to have it back in a somewhat good state, so I leave it be.

But this guitar has a progress of collecting parts for... 8 years, so I also just want to play it now.

Sadly I have no other Infos. It was mounted on a Tele body iirc, so probably someone just wanted a Tele with B&B.

Btw this project is fantastic, but please put a mint/parchment guard on instead. Or MOP, to macth the blocks!!! :w00t:
