Turning some leftovers and junk into a Jaguar
I saw a very sad abused '66 Jaguar neck on Reverb, and it was cheap enough to make me think of lumping together some leftover parts into a complete guitar.
So sad when someone decides that they want a "Gibson-style" nut on a Fender neck. ...especially when they move the nut a bit towards the bridge!
Also, I was able to use this screw remover thing I made from a pin - just ran it in reverse centered on the original string tree hole that had a busted-off screw inside.
Brutal tuner fitting!
I can kinda read the date stamp!
I've never been a huge fan of the "Barncaster" style, but this was the cheapest Jag body I could find!
I routed the nut area flat so that I could graft in a maple/rosewood patch, and I routed a flat area into the end of the headstock so that it could be re-knobbed.
Jeez! FIVE string tree holes!
The smashed-up Mustang from long ago (the one that donated 1/2 of its body for the red/black Mustang project) contributed some neck chunks.
Plugs and patches, plugs and patches.
Whoops! I needed to move the nut slot a bit, chip off the end of the patch and glue on another rosewood piece.
Getting closer with some trimming to the binding patches
The pine body was kinda workmanlike, so I'll put a bit of work into getting the contours extra-deep, and cleanup the edge radius.

This is awesome will. If anybody can fix that mangled neck it's you! Looking forward to see the process and final result.

Top notch content.
The thread title made me imagine someone cleaning out their fridge and raiding their junk drawer to make a guitar.

The mind boggles... what kind of thing would come from a junk drawer and go into a sandwich, I wonder? Like, stale gum? Maybe spreading chapstick on the bread because you don't have mayo?Ceylon wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 10:41 pmLike the guitar equivalent of a sandwich made in munchie desperationmackerelmint wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2019 7:27 pmTop notch content.

In classic OSG fashion, thread derailed on the first page.
I'd put a dead bee on a chapstick sandwich, why not?
