Saving 1971 Mustang Bass

Post by Badabababa » Wed Apr 24, 2024 5:14 pm

The guitar did not survive the mod frenzy of the 70s and 80s.

The body was refinished at some point in its life, and a humbucker was added to the neck position.

Another person replaced the original pickguard and pickups before it came to me.

Is there an original finish under the top coat, as I see red?

Image

NOPE.

I'm guessing that the toggle switch was for the pickup mounted under the pickguard? Looks like an interesting project right now.

I like where this is going. Those Mustangs are very comfortable and sound great even though they are short scale.
