I like that too. Makes it look way more authentic and so much better than some crap relic job.Jazzprod wrote: The finish is not perfect but I wanted it that way to better fit the other 1966 parts.

I agree. I think it looks really good that way.
I have been looking around a little for a project Mustang bass, but not much luck so far. I am wondering, does anyone make Mustang Bass bodies now? I checked USACG and they do not list a Mustang bass body on their site.

I think that's generally true of most Fender basses .. the 60s guys would hold onto the rest with their fingers and pluck with their thumbs, but the 70s guys would perch their thumb on the rest and pick rest strokes with the first two fingers.Jazzprod wrote: As far as I've been able to see, 60's Mbasses have their thumb rest below the strings and 70's over.

Someone knows where I can find the nearest woodchipper to throw my pieces of junk into?

Excellent project! Love the look of your bass.... It's exactly as mine!
As for the thumbrest, mine is a 1973 and the body has holes for both positions, but looking at the threads, the thumbrest has always been below the strings on it... so it's more a finger rest than a thumbrest.
