I want this one out of principle - cool green Guild Starfire...but damn look at what they did to it lmao:
My guess was lefty conversion due to the master volume on the top horn that's not supposed to be there, pickguard screws in the top side as well, and that horrendous arm guard. Got a photo from the seller that confirmed it, they really should add these to the listing:
Bigsby and pickguard are also non original, they're definitely asking way too much money. My heart hurts to see this, this thing is fuckin fried

Haha I noticed it right away... because I'm too spoiled by auto trim tuners, so I always fuck up when stringing on Fender tuners.
Then again, I don't present myself as a vintage connoisseur who deserves to markup his stuff by thousands of dollars

Don't get me wrong, I am pretty happy to have finally found a suitable body for my Mustang Bass project, not least as this is the final part of the jigsaw and was priced more than reasonably.
Just one problem - someone at some point decided to re-profile the body. Look at that inelegant scratchplate/pickguard line. It's hard to imagine what the perceived problem was with the original contours, given the quite subtle modification, and whether or not the attached guard is actually vintage correct (WD repro) as the seller has stated.
According to the seller it's a '66 - '68 Daphne Blue body. No markings I've found (so far), but plenty of evidence of the original colour. Shame about the shavings.

Whatever they did, I wish they hadn't. Best guess is someone wanted to bring the weight down a bit....presumably before vintage offsets were valued.
Oh well, I guess I'll end up with a one-off, which is fine by me. Fine-ish, to be more precise....

A few years back I had the chance of a '60s Epi Casino which had been converted to a lefty then converted back to a righty, with pretty obvious plugged holes on the top. If I'd known then it was likely to be the last somewhat affordable '60s Casino I'm ever likely to encounter in this lifetime I might have seen past my fussiness and found a way to raise the cash for it.rbrcbr wrote: ↑Mon Jun 20, 2022 10:35 amMy guess was lefty conversion due to the master volume on the top horn that's not supposed to be there, pickguard screws in the top side as well, and that horrendous arm guard. Hindsight is 20/20, I suppose. Sometimes it's hard to get past that sort of cosmetic stuff., it's reasonable. I'm sure it was probably a killer guitar regardless. At the very least modern Casinos are still pretty lovely guitars!UlricvonCatalyst wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 3:34 amA few years back I had the chance of a '60s Epi Casino which had been converted to a lefty then converted back to a righty, with pretty obvious plugged holes on the top. Re: this Guild, discussion on the Guild forum revealed that it was the other way around! It was originally a lefty, converted to righty, which is almost worse:
A cool guitar nonetheless that I would absolutely play.

So many right-handed guitars in the world and somebody hacks away at a lefty. there's nowt as queer as folk, right enough.
