oh my. Someone did this to a competition mustang.
I kind of like the shape and the flower paintjob, that headstock sucks though.
I agree, it isn't too bad...just needs a swinger speared headstock. :D

The stain makes it look really pine-y.

OMG. When he started just spraying random colours at it, I was thinking "Oh well, at least he's not stripping it down to wood" Then he goes, oh, that looks shit, then strips the bloody paint down to wood!!!

I know it's not a vintage Fender guitar but when are people going to start treating these amazing new Squier's with some respect?

ok, as someone who's bought a lot of squiers new, they usually have issues from the factory.

i got a super-sonic and the wiring job on it was really fucking bad. like it was crapping out while i was testing the guitar and i used that as a bargaining chip to get £40 off.
i got the toronado, 2 dead tuning keys.
got the cyclone and one of the switches wasn't wired up.

the only squier i bought new that didn't have any issues was the starcaster.

as for 60's cycle hum, i like how the guitar now looks but yeah. unless you really hate the stock paint job, i don't see why you'd refin it.

I saw this on Reverb. They must have had enough skill to somewhat match the shape of a headstock, but didn't notice that the grain looked ridiculous. It's like they reached behind them and took the nearest board. And that truss rod routing looks like crazed beavers got at it.

When did the market change such that people don't price damaged husks accordingly?

I think the math these days is that someone buys a damaged guitar, parts it out, and prices the husk at about 50-75% of what they paid for the complete guitar.

Yeah, I mean. Upgrade the tuners, hardware, pickups, wiring. But leave the damn finish alone!

tbh, i feel like at this point, if we joke about wanting a guitar in a certain colour on here, it will happen within a year.......

ya know, i would totally buy one of the squier cv mustangs if it came in shell pink.

Well, you have to keep in mind the guy's a Youtube entertainer. He doesn't do things to his guitars because they need it or because that makes sense, he does that because that brings him views, and therefore money. IIRC he once chucked a guitar from a bridge. Such is the magic of content creators on social media.

yeah. i know. that's kinda the weird thing about "content creators" in my book. i understand that often they are creators, but due to how some of them frame themselves, it's hard to think of some of them as anything other than normal people.
