'Almost all original'
That thing looks incredible. Would it really go for $5000 though!?
It was on reverb for 3250 a few months ago and sold in under an hour. idk about 5k I feel like someone will snatch it.
Jeez. Just goes to show how much having an original finish (despite being trashed) is valued over a refin regardless of many other things being messed with (and severely).
Silly Rabbit, don't you know scooped mids are for kids?

Inspired by johnnysomersett's bass dilemma, I googled "lightweight Peavey T-40", and found these:

The guy on the last pic is Chip Todd, the Peavey engineer who designed the T-60 and T-40... So apparently even he found them too heavy :D

Lol, yeah Chip started chambering them and putting caps on. I can only imagine it changes the sound drastically as I think the sheer dying-star-level mass of the things is what makes them sound how they do.

Fun fact: each saddle of the bridge on the T-40 weighs exactly an ounce...each individual saddle :derp:

so one joke my cousin has about me and my dad is "no wonder you both have back issues. you *pointing at my dad* you spent 20 years playing a peavey t-40 and you *pointing at me* plays jaguars and jazzmasters around the 6+kg mark. doesn't help that you both play massive 70's amps"

This is just paint, but that alone should shave something off of the $8,750 they are asking for. It's an "unusual refin" all right. Once you see the back you begin to understand.

This is for a vintage blues guy yearning to play for “Poison” w/unlimited whammy potential & that Bon Jovi Tone !

AFFORDABLE

...what?! :derp:
...well actually, last week I picked up another über-modded (but very much loved by the original owner who did the mods) bastard... and I'm loving it

Btw it's a 1971

Yes even though it's heavy, somehow, it doesn't feel all that heavy. Maybe because it's smaller?

Oh and I got lots of extras and extra pickups with it. And paid much less than the reverb bastard!

very cool. Maybe the bridge is significantly lighter than the lucite that it replaced!

Wait, does that headstock have a silver overlay too? If so that might be the coolest fucking guitar I've ever seen. I'd play the shit out of that.

It's actually top mounted, a SHIFT 2001 aka. "Wonderbar"
About 2mm of lucite were taken out of it for that. Oh and if you take good look, it was modded for a Bigsby at the very beginning. The owner told me so much about it.
There's YouTube videos of the band on Rockpalast in the late 70s, and his heavy days in the mid 80s, too!

That is correct, a chrome'd headstock overlay it is! ;D

woow, that modified Dan Armstrong is my dream guitar right there <3 I used to have a reissue that sounded absolutely phenomenal and I'm still kicking myself for letting it go. If you ever consider selling it, hit me up ;)

Yeah at rehearsal I've been using one of the wooden reissues for quite a while now, so when this popped up (with the sought after pickup etc.) I just had to!
