...what really leaves me puzzled is the fact it doesn't have a big fat high output humbucker installed.

it's the guitar they played on a ballad.

This is a minor offense, but putting a non-Fender neck on a vintage JM is not awesome.

^ ^ Oh man, that neck looks really pathetic! ;D

Also, is it just me or has the pickup selector switch been changed to a pot? It kinda looks like a solid brass shaft.

:o I bet it plays great, and the headstock looks vaguely Fenderish, but hoo boy that is a lot of cash for a mismatched neck and body.

Wouldn’t they be better off selling the neck and the loaded body separately rather than hoping to find a very specific person willing to pay for that combination?

Looks like it could be a rotary too.

Yeah, I didn't notice the pickup switch initially. Agree it looks like a rotary. I bet it's a dog's breakfast under the guard. The price for this one just looks more and more nonsensical.

That neck is ugly and the price is nuts, but the Pensa stuff isn’t cheap.

Rudy’s is home to the Pensa brand.

I’m going to guess it at least plays well and sounds good.

that headstock is pretty ugly. looks like they wanted to go with a 70's big headstock look BUT got a C&D and just shoved their remaining necks into a bandsaw. non fender headstocks can look good on jazzmasters BUT that one is not one.

I... don't hate it. Fuck, if it was a Squier or a MIM, I wouldn't feel bad about liking it :D
The pics are terrible though. Is that a Kahler vibrato?

EDIT: I thought that mangled upper horn looked kinda interesting but on second thought, the longer I look at it, the queasier it makes me feel :-X

I'd still vote for closed casket on this one.

Agreed hah, I'll have whatever the guys at Rudy's are smoking these days.

NYC prices are out of control these days... there's an MIJ Thinline Tele at Rivington for $2k... It's an '85, so first year, but that's like $800+ out of the going price for these things. Complete speculation.
