It's wild that this is now a common occurrence. Cracks, breaks, refinished/stripped finished just don't seem to impact price any moreX-Ray Spex wrote: ↑Sat Apr 09, 2022 3:52 amCompletely sanded the finish off and still wants new price for it https://reverb.com/item/53296745-modded ... jazzmaster

As dead as a guitar can be. Right down the tire tread marks from when it was run over.

Re: "Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?"
Not as horrendous as some of the disasters in this thread - but I'm not sure why a previous owner did this to my 1972 Aria Strat. Only idea I have is that he played it high up and needed a lower tummy cut. Or that he played in a weird standing position with his legs pushing forward against the body. Or that he thought it might play better when seated (it doesn't).
This pic is AFTER I French polished the sanded area of bare wood and filled the massive gouge he had made in it, presumably when the sander slipped.
When I got it it looked like this
Had a scratchplate with some metal-based Maxons that I put in it so now it looks like this and it's a great player. Sticker covers over a weird black stain on the front that won't sand out.
Anyway, anyone with suggestions why this modification was made, please shout up.

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?
