oh my. Someone did this to a competition mustang.

Sold for $900! :o

Bet we will see parts showing up for sale soon.
Obviously this is a crime against Mustangs, but it is also kind of awesome in a late-60’s Fender factory mash-up hack job ala the Maverick, etc… I could see them doing this in an alternate universe where they discontinued the Mustang and were trying to use up a stock of Mustang parts. The Fender Gelding if you will. Sorry, I don’t want to encourage any more hacking of vintage guitars. Squiers on the other hand…

This neck could look pretty nice on a Jaguar build.

Body:
Condition: The body was refinished at some point.
The new finish has additional flower art work painted on the upper front.
There are two aftermarket cuts out of the body in the cut away and in the bottom edge.
The two inner corners of the neck pocket have cracks, possible in just the finish,, but we don't know.
The pickguard was modified with the body and is warped up in the corner. The strap knobs have been moved.
The back has a belt buckle rash in the finish. Otherwise the body is in good condition.

"OTHERWISE THE BODY IS IN GOOD CONDITION" ;D :fp:

‘Tis but a scratch!

Randy Bachmann from the Guess Who and Bachmann Turner Overdrive did that to at least one of his Telecasters back in the ‘70s. Maybe more? Whoever did this might have been a fan.

Teles that've been mangled that way remind me of Epiphone coronets.

I know that in some cases, it was a left handed player who ended up with a right handed tele, and just made it practical for themselves. It's not like southpaws can always get the guitars they want now, much less back in the day when these kinds of mods were being done. And it's not like a guitar starts its life as an irreplaceable vintage instrument, either.

Honestly, I got a lot of respect for people who just customize their stuff with no regard for resale or what others think. I do that stuff too. Fortunately we now have Squier for people like me to create our monstrosities with.
This is an excellent rectangle

I really like the choice of line that black cover takes, diagonally curving across the body, even the way it frames the tailpiece.

It could look much better if it was done in a more considered, understated way.
