Could someone tell me what kind of bridge this is? I see them every once in a while and kind of like how they look.
Specifically it's called a "Harmonica" bridge, or sometimes a wide travel bridge. You can buy them from All Parts or do a search on Ebay for "Harmonica Bridge" and they will turn up for a little bit less (or more). It's basically a tuneomatic with a slightly extended range for intonation.

My best guess is that the original finish got wore, so someone primered and painted the back and sides black and preceded to wear it even more. All I know, is that as soon as I saw and played it, I had to have it.

You know there are a very few instances original finishes imo can be err.. not so appealing to look at, and this is one of them.... of course taste is subjective, right? :k
