IRRC, they indeed did all were using low impedance pups. I can't seem to recall if they only used 25kΩ on them, though.
Hmm from what I see on Picafeliz's 1803t it looks like the pots on my ET-270 which are indeed 500k. B taper if I remember correctly.

That is very true what you said about playing them unplugged. They have quite a bit of volume and you can really feel the whole body resonate I was in aww when I first stringed mine up

According to the schematics that Shorty posted, his ET270 came with 500k pots.
I wonder why my 1802 came with 25k pots. Everything looked original inside, and the whole circuit seemed untouched. Strange.

By the way, Shorty's thread about the restoration of his gorgeous ET270 is full of precious informations (link below)

Got the big sister 1820 a few days ago !!!
So here is a picture of the little family now.
The blue one is in progress. Still need to decide which pickups to put on it. Still needs a trem bar too.

By the way, the guy from whom I bought the bass had been a heavy collector of japanese stuff from the 70's. He said he used to have like 70 guitars from that era.
And he sold them all, almost. In his own words, one of the few guitars he will always keep with him is his 1802t.
I took a picture of the guitar. Unique tan marks !

Hehe. The process of putting some stickers on to create arty tan marks is great indeed...you just have to wait 15 years and it's ready. 8)

By the way, Shorty, I realized that on my post above showing your schematics, I was quoting you and talking to you about your own thread, I hadn't figured out that it was the same person. Sorry for this. I should not post here while I'm busy at work.

Cool thread.
Here's a few pics of a couple of ET270s owned by the other guitar player in a band I used to be in:

Image

The one on the left was more original but he preferred the one on the right. He still has that but the other one ended up with an Offsetter in Germany IIRC. Here's some close-ups from when it was sold:

I got really into the 6-a-side necked versions recently as the neck radius feels identical to my Univox Hi Fliers (unlike the Epi necks) so when this came up on Ebay for £40 I had to take a risk:

Image

As you can see it's been crudely stripped and the pickups are in backwards for starters but the worst part is the bridge is missing saddles and is in poor shape generally. It's badged as an Eros which is a pretty nasty importer brand that seems to be UK centred.

I put the bridge problems to the back of my mind and a friend offered to refinish it for me and so I went for a nice Fake Placid Blue:

Image

Headstock has been done too. My friend asked what my plans were so I said "something like this":

Image

but explained I needed a bridge and they seemed to be pretty sought after on EBay etc. He sent me this pic and the message "My first guitar, neck is smashed but it's yours if you want it"

Image

So I have all the pieces, bar some decent tuners and some hot P90s. I'll keep you posted how putting it all together goes.

I'm gonna be placing a sneaky bid on it. Hopefully it doesn't jump up too much in price.

Check on page 1 of this thread, Pacafeliz was selling the exact same guitar. Maybe it's still for sale.
This is the version with classic strat-like pickups, I think they came up a bit later.
