Can anyone recommend a good pickup replacement for the ET 280?
The LCD basses had generic Gibson EB/SG type bridge pickups fitted to them - they seem to be a direct replacement size-wise. The 280 has curious pickups - the pole pieces are sort of 'loose' and sit on a bar inside held by magnetic force. I can't explain as not technical but if you shake the bass really hard you might hear that the sound changes as the pole pieces have moved along the bar.

Anyone have a picture of this bass?

Has anyone on this list ever figured out a good drop in tuner replacement for the 1802T? As has been pointed out, there is way too much wiggle room before the gear is even engaged (particularly in the tune down direction) on the stock ones. Makes this guitar very tough to use live. But I love it otherwise.

Two options seem to have been presented:

viewtopic.php?f=41&t=60667&p=1587241&hi ... s#p1587241

viewtopic.php?f=41&t=60667&p=1602728&hi ... s#p1602728

Did either require drilling?

What is the model number for the Schallers (assuming they are no-drill)?

Thanks! DT

The Schaller tuners I installed on mine did require re-drilling. The holes almost lined up but I still had to plug them and re-drill.
Totally worth it though. They are amazing quality.

Those tuners look great. Were there going to be any holes exposed?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean? The schaller tuners cover the existing plugged holes.

Got a pair of replacement 1802t tuners off an ebay seller. Looked exactly the same as what came on my 1802t, but it turned out that the hole spacing is just a 1/2 mm or so off from my original ones. So, I still can't put them on without drilling, and now I must fill first before doing so. ARGH!

So, lesson learned (and not reported before in this thread) is that there seem to be some variants of these tuners.

The original ones bend very easily in places, which is half of the reason why they stop working right. The other reason being that the pole separates in one spot.

The metal is also slightly thicker in places on the new ones and does not seem to bend as easily. So, perhaps this change was made on purpose on later models.

Hello everyone, I hope this is an acceptable thread to ask this in. I recently got an Epiphone ET275, which I believe has the same bridge and trem as the 270.

It's missing the bridge action adjustment screws, and I'm having trouble finding out what size they are. I took the bridge to a hardware shop and an M3 would start threading in, but not go all the way. And an M2.5 was definitely too small.

Does anyone happen to know the correct screw size, or even have some I could purchase?
I'm thinking it might be a fine thread M3, or I may have to chase the threads with a tap. But I'd rather not just in case I'm wrong on the size.

Man would I love to get my hands on one of these. I had an 1802T for like a minute but traded it for something before ever really getting to spend much time with it.

Like a lot of my guitar realm situations, I regret not buying one when they were ~$200 or whatever because psychopaths are listing them now for ~$1,000 and thus out of my comfort zone on price/quality.

There are a bunch of Guyatone guitars I want too but the same thing is happening with them, unfortunately.

Wow! Love what's going on with the headstock!

Unrelated: is there a source for replacement pickups for these things? I just bought a fixer-upper 1802t and the seller says the bridge pickup is dead - not sure what the issue is yet but I'm just putting out feelers.

The only place to find replacement pickups for these is... these. Maybe get lucky and find one on eBay from a parted out junker. My advice is to either take the pickup to someone who can rebuild it with a new coil, or send it to be rewound or repaired.

Just for grins...

The original image was lost in the Photobucket "transition".

Looks like Trosper's was the version on the right.

Are the bridges on these non-adjustable?
