Pics of Non-Matching Custom Color Pegheads??
Hey all...
On the site linked to below (and others), it states that "not all custom color high-end models had a matching color peghead, though they often did."
http://home.provide.net/~cfh/fenderc.html
Then I began a search to see if I could find an original 60's custom color JM or Jag without a matching peghead, and have struck out...
So-ooo, love to see one...
Anyone??
In any color?
Thanks!

Post 62 I imagine it was really just artist orders that would possibly get a non matching headstock. It really likely is just a handful where it really should just list those people because Fender likely has records of these non matching orders.

There are supposed to be a few sunburst Jaguars with original black headstock floating around. I've seen one picture, however I can't tell if it was real.

I'm not sure if this counts or not as I think it's a prototype, at least I have it saved as "Fender Mustang Prototype". And I suppose it's not really a custom color but never the less I thought it appropriate.
Other then a black headstock I can't say there are many color combos I can think of that look as good as this.

Why does the Fender Mustang Prototype
a) have only one pickup
b) look like was used as a weapon in a barroom stabbing

Re: Pics of Non-Matching Custom Color Pegheads??
Thank You!!!
Been thinking of acquiring a vintage JM or Jag that has been refinned or (better yet) stripped, and doing my own work on it...
But a lot of the ones I've seen have unmolested uncolored pegheads, and I wanted to make something that was at least historically accurate...
Thanks all...

I think this is just a modded Musicmaster body with a Competition Red Mustang neck. Fender was using Klusons when the Mustang came out in '64. These are the F backed CBS tuners.WonderCouncil wrote:I'm not sure if this counts or not as I think it's a prototype, at least I have it saved as "Fender Mustang Prototype". This one would have made a nice refin project, with the matching peghead and all:
