Headstock repairs and values?
How much do headstock repairs affect value? have found this gorgeous Jag that is all original other than a refin and this repair. the back of the neck has been touched up around the repair but its rock solid and is a pro job... they want about us$1800 for it

Re: Headstock repairs and values?
Any chance of seeing a pic of the repair? To me it would be a matter of how noticable it is... if you can't tell it's been done, and its a solid job, then it really wouldn't bother me too much. Others may disagree, and I would definitely think about if you are buying it to keep, or plan to re-sell eventually, as i DO know there are folks who wouldn't consider any guitar with a neck repair. I view it sort of like a route under the pickguard... if i can't see it, i don't mind that its there. On the other hand, there are folks who would shy away from something like that too. Bottom line is whether or not it bothers YOU.

If you think you might ever resell, I'd avoid it, at least at that price. I've seen refins without neck repairs go for about that much and sometimes less.

any chance a 64 neck could ever appear on a guitar with 65 dated pots? i am thinking of the 64 neck in the for sale section on this body might work? if i can get the total guitar at the right price.

$1800, in any market, sounds a little steep for what you're describing and, hey, you're already looking at buying a replacement neck. PASS.
FWIW, I purchased from a reputable dealer who disclosed an issue - hell, I talked to their "(brand-specific) expert" at length - and the guitar turned out to be an over-priced, never-ending issues factory.

Re: Headstock repairs and values?
Based on various guitars I've come across, headstock repairs seems to knock the value down by about 1/3. If the guitar is really rare and you've fallen in love with it... anything goes.
I have a celeb owned Epiphone Coronet from 62. She (the celeb who would prefer I didn't talk about her) broke the headstock so in this case it wasn't an issue for me.
