Thanks guys... I now have a '64, '65, and '66... and each one of 'em feels, plays, and sounds very different, yet have similarities about them too...I don't know if I buy into the idea of the bound necks being "thicker" than the earlier ones, as it seems the edge is simply routed for the binding, with the overall profile remaining very similar (if not identical) to my '65 unbound sunburst... My '64 clay dot neck may be a bit thinner than these other 2, but at the same time, it's probably the nicest feeling neck of the trio. As I said, each one has something a little unique to it, and you can really feel and hear the differences when playing one right after the other.

These are such underrated guitars, I can't believe it took me this long to "discover" them. The more I play this one the more I like it. I think I'm gonna string up the '64 with some .012's soon, as I do believe that the heavier gauge strings make a big difference in the overall "feel" of these.

Some people that J i m m y knows think that custom colors like that are a bit garish, even "flaming" as one guy put it. Personally, that's one of J i m m y's favorite colors. :? Nice score, ol' chap. J i m m y awards your collection nine thumbs up!

You're not the only ones... I always think Bianchi when I see that color.

Awesome picture of the green and pink ones side-by-side. Surf green has always been my favorite Fender color, and this is close enough to be just as cool. And a matching headstock...
So I pretend there aren't ten strings tied to all ten of my fingers.

Thanks for all the compliments guys... I too am digging the color. The neck carve feels great too, slightly fatter than my 64 and 65, but not "too" chunky. I've been playing this one alot for the past week, and while I initially thought I loved the .012 gauge strings, after jamming on it for 7 straight days, I'm thinking .011's would be more suitable. (I usually use .010's on my strats.) It sounds great with the 12's, but heavy string bending is nearly impossible, and when I put it down and pick up a strat with .010's the gauge feels alot better to me. Aside from that, it's got a great tone through both pickups, and they seem to be a bit "hotter" than those on my pre-CBS Jaguars... could be that the heavier strings give it a bit more "bite", I'll confirm or disprove that when I swap to .011's.
