NGD3-'66 Sea Foam Jaguar- Yeah, I'm addicted!
Yes, this is my 3rd Jag in as many months, and I'm planning to join a 12 step program soon....
I've been working on this one for awhile now, and the timing was terrible, as I JUST tapped my NGD fund on the one-owner '65 sunburst I posted pics of a few weeks ago... My checkbook screamed "no", but I negotiated the deal anyhow, mainly because I just thought it was such a cool lookin' vintage Jag and would be a perfect guitar to round out my vintage Jaguar trio.
It's an early (Feb) 1966, with the pearl dot neck and bindings. (my favorite look!) It's a refin, but is a true custom color Sea Foam and started life looking pretty much like you see it now. Somewhere along the line a previous owner stripped it to bare wood with the exception of the pickup cavities and the area around the headstock decal. Although an attept to "save" the original decal was made, there was no way to nicely blend the new paint into the old, so the decision was made to just completely refinish it in proper nitro lacquer, including the headstock. Aside from the respray, every part is original, and in excellent shape, including the white 3 ply pickguard, frets/binding, pots, wiring, switches, pickups, tuners, control plates, etc. The Fender mute was removed, but I did get it in the case.
Sea Foam Green is quite possibly the most flamboyant of all the custom colors, and is admittedly a "love it or hate it" hue. Personally it's always been one of my favorite 60's Fender colors, and the main reason I fell in love with this one. The "fringe-benefit" is that this thing plays like a dream... It's setup with .012's, and has no buzz or string jump at all... and the tone is unlike either of my other 2 Jags... I'm not sure if this is due to the strings, the slightly higher action, or a combination of the 2, but what i DO know is that it rocks, and is a joy to play. This one feels more like my favorite strat in my hands than either of the other 2 Jaguars, including my untouched original '65.
Anyhow, I managed to get it outside for a few photos before it got dark and thought I'd share my joy with the rest of you offset junkies...I hope you enjoy!

Best colour there ever was (or is) love it ...
but just for clarity ... it is FOAM GREEN, as opposed to say SURF GREEN

You are correct, the "official" name is simply "Foam" green, a darker shade than Surf Green, which is also one of my favorites...

Dang that's nice--I could get over my dislike of surf/seafoam/Bianchi Celeste for something like that....
