In fact, one of the two blonde 335s (the '60 model) sold for a relative bargain at £70K or so, which is what they sell for anyway.
Yes, the 1960 335 sold for a relative bargain. It looks close to pristine in the photos. It's not a guitar many (anyone?) would really associate with Knopfler, though.
Most of the guitars in this auction aren’t really models that are associated with Knopfler, from the Ovation to the Teiscos and Dan Armstrong, and so on.
Not sure why that 335 sold for almost normal market price, but I guess the already high price of that model would scare off a lot of buyers who just wanted a piece of memorabilia and would be happy with any Knopfler guitar at half that price.

MARK KNOPFLER’S 1983 LES PAUL ’59 REISSUE, USED TO RECORD ‘MONEY FOR NOTHING’ AND ‘BROTHERS IN ARMS’
that's why. That song, album and video are iconic for fans of DS.

My goodness, these prices are eye-watering. I'm sure some hedge funds bros are in guitar heaven right now

A few years back I played a guitar that Mark Knopfler had played backstage at some Auckland gig in the 80s/90s. It was a pretty average acoustic by the time I picked it up to play.
An old EKO

I own one of those. EKO Ranger VI. Really nice guitar. The neck is sublime.
Even though it’s a bolt-on, it sounds great. It was my only acoustic for close to 15 years, and I was never left wanting.
