Pseudo-proto-Belindastang rehab video

Post by countertext » Fri Aug 11, 2023 2:05 pm

This yootoob shows the cleanup and rehab of a ‘70s Fresher copy of a Mustang. A “reFresher”, if you will. It came with a JM-style vibrato unit stock, which makes it culturally relevant here.

This yootoober posts lots of filthy guitar cleanups, and a lot of them are tasty vintage Japanese pieces, which is logical as they appear to be in Japan. Some dishonest internet losers preload grime on whatever they’re salvaging in order to ramp up the drama of the transformation, which peeves me to no end, but this person seems on the level.

Aaaah, there's nothing like a nice, soothing restoration video. Heheheh!

I love those guitar knobs!

My only gripe is that he didn't try out the tremolo unit.
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

I noticed that on some of the other vids, too. Maybe it’s just not their style. In [a different video], I was rather startled when the demo at the end was a pretty good rendition of a Slint tune.

My guess is he didn’t have an bar/arm to use.

That was great though.

I didn't even realise he was playing Slint. Something of Tweez? It's been a while since I listened to that album.

But I agree, great playing though. It makes a change to hear that kind of unconventional stuff on a demo.

He also played Sea Song by Faraquet, which was great.

In a different video! My phrasing did not make that clear, sorry.

Nice....but that's a LOT of nicotine....imho....

But super nice save... These old Japanese mid/70's copies tend to be kind of special.
I bet this one pre-dates the Fernandez "Stang" by a few years....

Wow! I've made wrecks playable again but they don't look like that! I am humbled and awed right now.
