NGD 1968 Fender Jaguar "The Raven"
I've really been trying to cut down on my guitar hoarding and am slowly but steadily selling my "collection".
But I've been offered a trade to one guitar, which comes with a little story which will be the only way I can justify it.
I just figured I would post this because it's so cool, regardless if I end up with it or not.
Anyways, back in 2010 I went to New York with my family with one sideline mission. Finding an affordable vintage jaguar (back when all vintage jaguar were still affordable and squier didn't make any)
I had contact with a few craigslist sellers but no deals were made. I ended up going to Rivington, Sam Ash and Rudy's.
In Rudy's I played a Reverend Six Gun 2010 Limited Edition. I liked it, it looked like a jaguar and my mom offered me to get it for me for my 21st birthday and suggested that I sell it when I find my jaguar. Two cheap, abused vintage jaguars ended in my possession but the Reverend remained unsold after numerous failed attempts. (I'm looking at you Covid)
This weekend I looked at the almost unplayed Reverend and posted it online with a little background story.
And I got offered a 1968 Jaguar. I don't need it, but I love it. And I love Jaguars. And the initial idea was to trade in this guitar at some point to get a jaguar. So if the deal is right I'll definitely get it and look again to what else I have to part with.
I present you:
The Raven.
Its a 1968 and yes the controlplates are copper and yes the tremolo is painted black and yes there is a raven on the back.
In the 80's this sunburst jaguar was painted black, all the control plates and pickguard got replaced with copper ones (de-chromed or handmade?)
the neckplate and tremolo got painted black and it ended up with a raven on the back.
A few years ago it got a new tortoise pg and an replacement bridge pickup.

I LOVE it! Black and tort is one of my favourite looks for a Jag or Jazzmaster.

I like it! What bridge is that? almost looks like a Mastery but clearly it’s not.

whoa that band is rad! Seriously. The first song is like Spaceman3, second one is like Joy Division or Movement era New Order and the last one is a Stooges cover. It's cool to see the Roland MSQ-700 multitrack sequencer on stage as well.
What happened to your white Jaguar? The one I received for you and was used to test fit the first Spitfire jaguar pickguard...

I'm still chatting to the guy, I'm just not sure what kind of trade he has in mind. He once took the guitar to a dealer who only offered him money for the vintage parts, he doesn't want it to be parted and wants it to end up with someone who loves it for what it is.
He definitely seems done with it since he never set up again after he took the neck off at the dealer and he offered me the guitar before the day he takes it to a triftshop.
I assume I would be a good candidate, to give it some love. Since I finally getting my shit together band wise and I keep just ending up playing my jaguars and if not I surely find it a new home over here. (Looking at you mike )

The white jag is still with me, with a jaguar pickguard! I regrettably had a few years harder years where I did more collecting/hoarding than playing but the jaguar was amongst the guitars that was still played. It's still so good! Still forever thankful you took care of it.
