The copper is back on although I have a hard time polishing it.
I'll probably need to get the buffing wheel out at some point.
I managed to ruin the switches so only the neck pickup works. The switch plate seemed to be turned a 180 degrees, so I figured that I just needed to turn it back. But the plates are definitely all handmade, because it didn't line up.
I also lost the high E string so it's definitely working it's way up on the priority list to visit my luthier and a staytrem bridge.
After dating some parts I now know the following: 1971 serial, 1966 pots and a 1968 special neck (if I can trust the seller). Not sure about the neck pickup yet.
The previous owner bought it from a guy in a hippie band in 1981, so I assume that was the original owner.
