It's Here! -- Incoming New Guitar Day (68 Jazzmaster)
So I really can't describe how excited I am to get this guitar, I never imagined I'd be able to get a vintage offset, even with the players grade changes on this one. I'm getting it from a friend of mine who doesn't play, and is giving me a stupid (but fair in terms of what he was offered at CME) deal on it.
What we know:
1968 Body with all the fixins (minus the original witch hats and trem arm. I ordered RI arm, and I'll eventually order a staytrem, but hopefully this should hold me over. Should I buy new Witch Hats to complete the 68 look or stick with the Sonic Youth look on there now...)
The back of it is signed (in very large text) by Chicago blues legend Willie Dixon.
It has a sticker / emblem of Jesus at the top of the headstock, and despite not being religious it is staying, because c'mon, it's meant to be there. This guitar will be dubbed the "Jesus-is-my-Master".
What we don't know:
What the neck is. I talked to the tech that I worked with and we're GUESSING it's a Boogie Bodies neck, or possible very early Mighty Mite, my buddy didn't feel comfortable popping off the neck. The lack of skunk stripe, heel truss rod adjust and late 70s / early 80s Schallers points us in that direction.
It got shipped yesterday and it's scheduled to deliver on Thursday. I can't fucking wait. Anyways, now for the good stuff, these are the pictures I was supplied:

The Jeezmaster is definitely better.
I just ordered a Mastery and Staytrem collet for it. I figure the Mastery is the better option on this one because the likely 10" radius.johnnysomersett wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 5:34 amAmazing. I wouldn't touch a thing on that apart from a bridge then rock the living fuck outta it!

Most signatures on guitars are lame, but Willie Dixon is one I would be proud to have. Congratulations!
Back in those days, everyone knew that if you were talking about Destiny's Child, you were talking about Beyonce, LaTavia, LeToya, and Larry.

Very cool, and the answer to witch hats is always yes.
What's that outline around the signature that looks like a big rectangle where the finish is different?

This is a great candidate for an AV II neck

Now there's an idea. That would look so right on this guitar.

Come on guys! We have to shame him into getting it to original condition again.
I demand you spend the next 6 months scouring reverb and ebay for a 68 neck, and when it finally pops up, You’re gonna have to shell out twice what the guitar will ever be worth. Make it so, or feel the shame!
