I chose to have it shipped by container (boat), so should be about 4 months to get here.
Saved a $100 doing that. The wait will suck, but thats quite a bit of money so... Yeah.

Looking forward to seeing if it arrives before or after parry's Tonebomb order.

Sorry - missed this! Yeah the red is original. It looks pretty bad, and the truss nut is broken, but I have some confidence it can be saved.

Love the color. It instantly reminded of the inside of a Humvee. It's like a bass that would come included with a 60s bomb shelter, or a Soviet Army bass or something.

CARC paint; it's supposed to be resistant to radiation particles (sticking to it, radiation passing through, etc.)ThePearDream wrote: ↑Thu Feb 23, 2023 8:24 amLove the color. Teisco can be cool. Relics of a bygone era, where companies hadn't yet settled on established "best practices" regarding design and there were still lots of different things out there. The actual "Teisco" branded models that I've tried generally hold up okay. I'm not sure what their compatibility with aftermarket or replacement parts are. I've played lots of Teisco manufactured stinkers too, but they typically are branded as something other than Teisco.
There was a brief period about ten years ago where I could scoop up old Teiscos (not Teisco branded, just manufacture) and part them out and come out ahead. During the tail end of that whole garage rock revival thing there actually was a market for original Teisco factory pickups. Just re-gauss them and they sound pretty cool.

I love these basses but I like all of this specific body style of Teisco thanks to blonde redhead
I used to be cool, now I just complain about prices.

The pickguard is solid metal, even the dude from the 5 deadly venoms wouldn't be able to bend it, i dont think.
I had to level the frets, adust and grease the trussrod. Put a couple of shims on the neck. Adjust the height of the bridge... But
Im quite happy with the result. Best playing Teisco bass ever.
Basket cases..

The neck is not bad, and i'm going to revise my earlier comment, I wouldn't say it's a baseball bat, but more so a chunkier neck than what im used to.
I've been able to get the action pretty low. Lower than when i took the pic above. Plays pretty nice, sounds great.
A screw head broke off leaving the screw inside the headstock. This is the one that secures the top portion of the headstock metal plate. I'm not sure i can get it out..

short scale ?
for your screw try to drill it with a carbide drill(or carbide mill) under a drill press with the headstock locked that way you can drill only the screw ,not easy to do but with patience it is doable
or you can also heat the screw with a soldering iron after have made a mark to unscrew it with a screwdtiver ,heat will expend the wood and the screw and after it will be easyer to unscrew
third if it hiden ,make a tool with a brass tube to cut the wood around the screw and this you can otate it ,and put a plug (dowell glued and redirll for anothe screw

Yes, 30.5" scale. Thanks for the tips ludobag. I might tackle that this weekend.
