my Sho-Bud pedal steel came well-used from West Virginia...
it smelled smokey when i got it in 1999, and it smells like smoke today.
doesn't bother me, though i don't use it full-time.
it's a cool artifact of it's long life, i often imagine the saloons it's done time in.

i love seeing your 'Star' - it looks a lot like mine.
after fixing mine up just a bit, it's become my #1 lately,
playing 12 gigs in the past month, it's been a special muse in itself.

i'm glad you're giving it the attention it deserves!

Yeah, I wish we lived in a time when you still saw ads like that. So much more personality than what we get now.

I like the storytelling. Most stuff now is just a picture of the thing, a price, and some specs. This was much more creative.

" The Starcaster. It's a sound at home in New York, Nashville or Detroit. "

So do you have to pick between Nashville or Detroit? Or is it a battle royal between all three? You can only have a sound that is at home with one of those cities? haha I have to agree this stuff is so kitschy yet the fantasy is well thought though.

Nice find, man! I don't think i have ever saw one with a pick guard on it. Kinda reminds me of the EBMM James Valentine with it on.
How do you do it, Chris, you've been on a roll lately! :w00t:

Actually I’m really curious about that - like do most used guitars not have comparable smoke evidence? I smoke so don’t really notice it ever but have always assumed that if the thing was played all that often, chances are it was in lots of gigs in smoky bars and clubs, so it kinda comes with the territory imo

It is a vintage instrument, so some odor is pretty normal. LOL If it was new, I would probably sell it and buy a different one that didn't have the smoke smell, but with one this old, I consider it part of its character. :D
