Late to the party here, but I dig it! Somehow I've never encountered one of these in person.
How do you like this compared to your AVII Telecaster Deluxe? Assuming the newer WRHBs have a bit more oomph.

A semi-hollowbody has a lot of unsealed wood inside. I would expect that to keep a smell for much longer than a fully sealed solidbody.Mechanical Birds wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 2:19 amActually I’m really curious about that - like do most used guitars not have comparable smoke evidence? I smoke so don’t really notice it ever but have always assumed that if the thing was played all that often, chances are it was in lots of gigs in smoky bars and clubs, so it kinda comes with the territory imo

I've bought and traded for a lot of used guitars, and only two have ever come to me reeking of smoke. Part of that is probably because I won't bother trying to make a deal if I know that's an issue in advance. Still, it hasn't been hard at all for me to find guitars that don't smell of smoke.
I think that's definitely true. Also, nitrocellulose guitars are more prone to it than poly in my experience. Nitro dissolves things quite effectively, so the organic compounds from the cigarettes seem to really seep into the finish in a way that can't be cleaned out.

I like the vintage ones more. The modern are fine, but like you guessed, they are hotter.garyfanclub wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 12:50 pmLate to the party here, but I dig it! Somehow I've never encountered one of these in person.
