Vintage Live Stereolab 2001 (offset paradise!)

Post by Paco » Thu Jul 28, 2022 10:04 am

So yesterday I found a complete Stereolab show from 2001 touring their underrated Sound Dust and just months before Mary's death. This videos are titled "steriolab" and I found them out of pure luck, they apparently took place in Germany. This guy's channel has some amazing footage from a wide range of bands, some Marc Ribot gems in there!

At least for me, this 3 videos are the best vintage Stereolab footage I've found ::)

Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5we2xki ... =ArkTerror

Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuHcZjc ... =ArkTerror

Part3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xydR0K ... =ArkTerror

The setlist is amazing and the band is at the height of their powers, completely on control. Mary slaying her 70's Jazzmaster through maybe a Bassman or a Bandmaster(amazing tone) and Tim with his greened out competition Mustang through some other Bandmaster or Showmaster (unbelievable tone) and even Laetitia on the trombone! Kraut in, kraut out just lovely muzak all the time. :-*

Nice one! I saw them when they toured Margarine Eclipse and they were on great form then.

Hmm, based on the date it looks like it would've been in Atlanta. Whatever they case, they were in top form for sure. Sound Dust seemed like a drop in quality at the time, but in retrospect it's an underrated classic. I saw them in '99 and '00 but they didn't come anywhere close on that particular tour.

I'm pretty sure the last show of theirs I saw was on this tour. Amazing stuff.
