My small collection of MIJ guitars

Post by Odjuret » Sun Jul 17, 2022 6:42 am

Just wanted to share my small collection of MIJ guitars; two 1966 Yamaha SG-3, two Morales ZES-300, Morales bass and last a Jaguar Mosrite style guitar. :)

Thanks! :)

Ett med lite för många gitarrer än vad som ibland känns rimligt. :D

Awesome collection! I've recently got a Morales ZES-300, they're fantastic guitars. I had never seen the bass version.

Also, I want that Keoma poster so badly!

Thanks! Great taste in movies too, cheers! :)
I can't agree more, they are awsome guitars. My goal is to own one of each finish - two more to go. Nice to see some love for Morales.
I actually only have seen the bass up for sale twice so far.

A black one shouldn't be too difficult to find, that's the most common finish as far as I know. But sunburst ones seem to be as rare as a hen's teeth, which is a shame, because their particular style of Japanese over-the-top targetburst looks incredible.

The sunburst ones are truly incredible! Haven't seen one for sale for a long while, so you seem to be right about that unfortunately. Next time I see one I won't let it go without a fight. ;)

Argh, still regretting that I didn't get an original sunburst SG-3 back in early 2021 sometime for like 900€.

Where in Sweden are you based? I am currently between Gothenburg and Uddevalla chilling on an island with my Jazzmasters.

Hello to Sweden! Although I am based in the UK I work for team based in Sweden.

The Yamahas look great - are they quality instruments or were they built as budget guitars originally?

i have the SG-3 as well, and it's excellent quality, quite impressive.
i believe the SG-2's and 3's were among Yamaha's very first electric guitars, and it seems
they were determined to make an impression, and even upstage Fender with a nice roller bridge,
and zero fret/chrome nut, etc.

mine is a 1965, and the pots and switches and tuners and frets are still very nice.

i was playing it at a jam session in a club in L.A., and got hired on the spot to play surf guitar on a soundtrack!
i brought my Jazzmaster and Jaguar, but it was the Yamaha that first got their attention.
it *is* a bit noisier - that's one thing - it could use some more thorough shielding.
