Need help. 1965 Jaguar, is the finish original?

Can someone tell me if the finish is original? I can’t find pencil date showing on the neck pocket. Tks in advance!

Looks legit to me. The neck pocket looks right, and the rather immaculate appearance of the finish coincides with the non tarnished golden hardware and untouched neck finish. It looks like that guitar spent lots of years on its case.

The pic of the original sale contract on Reverb is really cool. Did it really cost $718 in 1965 for a custom-color Jaguar and a Twin Reverb? I think that's somewhere between $6,000-10,000 in today's money!

“$700 in 1965 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $6,584.69 today, an increase of $5,884.69 over 57 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 4.01% per year between 1965 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 840.67%.”

I have nothing to offer anybody, except my own confusion?

Congratulations! Looks like a faux-burst, where they painted the body yellow rather than dyeing it, to hide grain matching. Only around 1965 if I recall correctly.

Looks all good to me! Congratulations!!!!

Well, wasn’t the Jaguar back then the top of the line of fender? And a twin reverb was back then a very expensive amp so this makes sense

Cool. Congratulations!

Yes, looks all fine!
Not played very often obviously.
On the back of the neck you can see a bit of wear up to the first 5 frets.
So the former owner was a mainly chords player? Rhythm guitar?
It starts... when it begins.
