Introducing... the Jazzo-Sonic !
I present The Jazzo-Sonic™
Not long ago, I answered an ad offering "vintage Jazzmaster parts for sale. Speaking with the guy, it turns out that he had almost all the parts for a '62 Jazzmaster that came attached to half of another guitar, and he talked me into buying the whole thing.
What it turned out to be is highly entertaining.
This is (or was) a slab board '62 Jazzmaster, sawed in half and glued to the treble side of a 1959 Duo-Sonic (identified by its brown single-coil pickup and body route remnants). It now sports a cheapo MIJ neck on the lower side, for some reason.
This is pretty good evidence that at one point in time (likely in the late 70s/early 80s) offset Fenders were valued so little, that cutting two of them up to make a double-neck was no big deal.
But most of the JM is there! Black bobbin pickups/covers, slab board neck, all the hardware! As funky and folk art as this thing is, these parts deserve to be used again. If anybody needs some vintage JM parts, let me know. I'll post a separate FS thread for whatever parts I'm not needing myself.

I think you might have just found the ultimate “Why did you do it? Why did you do this thing to me?” guitar.

Ha!
Well I’d have to agree. Because they killed TWO classic Fender offsets in the process.
I can only assume substances were involved in this decision.

All it needs is a zap of high voltage and Frankenstein's Monster shall live!!
Seriously though, you should just bring that to life as is, it would be amazing

I'm with GreenKnee. Make it sing, if only for an afternoon!

Re: Introducing... the Jazzo-Sonic !
It’s undoubtedly cool and if anybody wants to reassemble this and use it as-is, by all means get in touch.
But to be perfectly honest it’s a fairly crude build and these parts are in high demand for other restorations. Probably best to replace with modern parts and keep the body as-is, if anybody is so inclined.
Heck of a conversation piece though and I even like the design, Fender’s own custom shop doubleneck offsets are not better than this, IMO.

Re: Introducing... the Jazzo-Sonic !
*** UPDATE***
After much consideration, I’ve decided to restore this thing back to a Jazzmaster.
The build quality was so shitty that it seems sad as a doubleneck. Nice piece of folk art, but that seems like a real waste of a Jazzmaster.
With condolences to the folks who wanted me to keep it as-is, I’m going to start a build thread on the restoration of this guitar.
