Re: Vintage (1958-1980) Fender Jazzmaster Database
1973 Fender Jazzmaster Sonic Blue refin, non-original pickups (Sn358666, 13JUN73B)
1973 Fender Jazzmaster Sunburst original (Sn424339); I only have the body for this one, but the complete original was documented for sale here.
This thread details the current state of both as mix and match Jazzblasters (one with a repaired 66 neck). I'd likely make the sonic blue one whole again if I were going to sell either. I would love to put the sunburst back together if anyone has the parts—I was told the they ended up with a 60s body somewhere in Europe.

1972 sunburst, A neck, all original except for mastery bridge and frets. sn 384290
1978 originally sunburst, now natural nitro refin. all original except for refin, staytrem and frets. B neck. The neck date is 75, body is 77, rest is 78. apparently it left factory like that, since all the serial number stickers match. sn S700320

That looks very very blue for an OTM, almost LPB to my eyes! Is the colour on screen accurate? I've found some phones struggle to capture teals and turquoises properlyJunkit_boy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 3:28 pmHI Everyone.

I'll add my 73 to the thread. This one used to belong to a member here and this site was an incredible resource when it came up for sale 6 years ago to be able to find history.
This is a very well worn 1973 in factory natural. The first couple of pictures are present day (I added a Spitfire guard when I bought it), the third picture is of the guitar with the original white pickguard which I still have. The guitar has had a refret, and is an incredible guitar.

For historical purposes, I ran across this article when I was looking up info on this guitar...https://mmguitarbar.tumblr.com/post/557 ... -73-fender

The headstock is a better color representation. The heal of the body is written O.T. and you can see the overspray. For many years I thought it was LPB but a vintage dealer told me it was OT..then asked if I wanted to sell it.

I'd have been the same, assuming it was LPB....I've never seen one so blue & I assumed the headstock had just yellowed a bit. Interesting to know it had the O.T. on the body. No surprise a dealer was trying to buy it off you, especially now, worth a fucking fortune.Junkit_boy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 15, 2022 9:05 amThe headstock is a better color representation. 1965 Candy Apple Red

Apparently the paint was "touched up" at some point, but not a total refin. Whoever did it knew what they were doing, because two separate people VERY acquainted with vintage guitars (dealer, former dealer) said they couldn't spot it.
Refret in December 2021 (Stewmac #155, basically vintage tall)
Everything else is original except the switch tip.

1978 sunburst blackguard Jazzmaster S800490 used to be mine, then I sold it and later somebody else here bought it in Denmark, I believe.
