Vandalising headstock or at least fading?

I don't quite understand why so many jazzmaster and jaguar headstocks have vandalised or faded decals over the jaguar portion.

Maybe because the model wasn't popular back then?

It probably just dried out and fell off. It is the thinner part of the decal so it is more fragile there.
