Amazing guitar.

More importantly: how do the pants fit?

The cool thing about fretless is you can hit a note...and then renegotiate.

Gonna plug it in and run paces over the weekend- I'm pretty excited to toggle all those switches!

Interesting thing on the neck profile- seems the bass side is built slightly lower, creating a slight angle to the fretboard to accomodate the vibration of the larger strings. I think i've seen this before, but not for a while, and never this noticeable. I tried to get a good pic to illustrate:

The slant on the neck pickup amplifies the effect at that angle, but it's definitely there.

As for the pants fitting- it's just a random mishmash of different parts, so I'm thinking I'll raid the bargain bin at the local adult novelty store for some more elements & use my sewing skills to fashion an apocalypse-worthy stage denim jockstrap/garterbelt/hipwader combo to wear for my next performance.

Fra-mooseknuckle!

Plugged it in today to tune up and try out......

Nothing.

No scratchy signal, no response from any of the knobs, no swell from the pinky-lever.

Switch #1 is broken or unmoored from its mounts.
Switch #s 2, 3 & 5 seem functional, but no change to output.
Switch #4 seems to function the same- but there is a tiny audible noise through the amp when it is toggled.

I've contacted the seller through eBay - see if they want to take it back & refund me, or partially refund me to cover exploratory repair costs.

Fart-a-roo.

Sorry, that sucks. Hopefully they’ll refund the cost to get it worked on by a tech and you can enjoy it.

Dude wouldn't agree to anywhere near a satisfactory amount for a partial refund, so I'm sending it back.

Sad to see it go, but at least now I've had one in-hand (and know what to expect quality/feel-wise if I happen on another.) I just wish i'd been able to hear the damned thing's TONEZZ. :'(

...and twiddle that pinky-lever!

Yep. (Fart sound.)

Good thing about it, though- eBay has been very easy to work with this go-round.

They provided the return postage, (via USPS Priority, even!) and have my funds pending transfer back to my account as soon as the delivery is complete (tomorrow.)

If the seller wasn't such a wang, I'd still have this cool-as-eff guitar, though.

I guess money is just as good. Almost.

Update on this...

Seller was a complete A-hole.

First- I'd have been happy if he would have offered a partial refund in the $100 range- likely not enough to actually fix the problem, but at least help get restoration/trobleshooting started, yknow? He pitched a fit even with his final offer at $50, so I packed it back up (in his same box - everything the same except I replaced the pants with some actual packing material) and sent it back via the label eBay provided. Problem solved, right? Money was to be released to me upon delivery.

Second- seller disputed the return, saying I had 'significantly damaged' the guitar while in my care. Broken nut? Not while I had it, but even so it's a minor and replaceable part, etc. Missing bridge cover? It was definitely on the guitar when I wrapped it back up, and there was no damage to the screw holes to show it had been damaged during shipping. The box and other packing materials were intact in the seller's dispute photos, so this was sinking into nightmare territory.

Paypal & eBay were their usual pain-in-the-ass bureaucratic nightmare- timelines & deadlines & evidence gathering & such. Short version: They ruled in my favor and refunded my money in full after looking through the evidence, but it did take several weeks. eBay paid the return shipping, so other than time, and my dreams of a really cool guitar, I wasn't out anything.

Saw the same guitar listed again under a different seller account, but it's the same dude. The bridge cover is back on, and the nut appears whole & functional. It's also $100 more- I'm betting to hedge against the repair bill when somebody falls for it again.

What a freaking chode.
