Yeah, picked it up in Sweden when I was home for the holidays! It’s been with a couple of owners there over the past 9 years. Through some research (Google) I have managed to trace it back to Olivia’s vintage guitars in Illinois, who sold it back in 2013.

This is what they (Olivia’s) wrote back then (Wayback machine is such a wonderful resource):
“1966 Original Fender Jazzmaster in its original OLYMPIC WHITE finish with a matching headstock. It has a great playing neck with good frets. It's all original and 100% complete along with its original hardshell case, tremolo arm, and key to the case. There are lots of nicks + dings, finish checking, and other typical cosmetic wear. Everything remains structurally sound with no cracks, breaks, or repairs. All electronics work and sound great.” Price $4945
Had a brief e-mail conversation with them about the guitar, and they suggested it may have come from a collector in Mississippi, but couldn’t confirm.

yeah! i was thinking the checking pattern is like some 50's/early 60's modern art.
etch-a sketch kind of nails it, cuz it was a product of the time!

Olivia's is kind of a magic shop for me. i most often bought my gear from friends or shops and collectors here in L.A. or while touring other cities. but early in the internet age i became one of their early customers when they were only on eBay, and took a chance on some real oddballs for under $300. everything i tried from them i had taken with a grain of salt that buying a guitar online is a crapshoot, and kept a keen eye on their return policy. but i never had to send anything back! it was clear that they had a great eye for the undiscovered vintage prizes of the Midwest U.S. and even that 2013-era photo takes me to a time when you could buy from a 'boutique' outlet, and end up with a good value. and in this case, the fact that they once harbored this instrument tells me that it's a worthy candidate. but of course in this case that's obvious anyway
