Pickguard is pretty badly warped. Anyone have success-stories of fixing guards like this?

The best example I've seen was an old forumite, Fullerplast, who sandwiched a warped guard between 2 panes of glass & left it in the Florida sun for a few week. It worked a treat! I'm not sure how well that'd work in Oslo!alvinstraight wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:51 am...Pickguard is pretty badly warped. Anyone have success-stories of fixing guards like this?
Someone else used an oven, sandwiching the guard between 2 sheets of wood. I think it worked out well too but was kinda scarier, considering how nitrocellulose combusts!
You think you can't, you wish you could, I know you can, I wish you would. Slip inside this house as you pass by.

Leaving it out to melt in the Norwegian sun sounds like an idea for another one of those slow-tv projects that we love so much over here.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:57 amThe best example I've seen was an old forumite, Fullerplast, who sandwiched a warped guard between 2 panes of glass & left it in the Florida sun for a few week. Thanks for those ideas though! After some searching (should get better at that before asking questions) I found that the forum hackmaster Will has already developed a method for this that seems to work really well viewtopic.php?t=93643. Only problem in this case is the extra worry of having a guitar with seemingly untouched wiring.

I did the oven & wood technique on a JM guard, and it worked incredibly well.PorkyPrimeCut wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 11:57 amThe best example I've seen was an old forumite, Fullerplast, who sandwiched a warped guard between 2 panes of glass & left it in the Florida sun for a few week. No worries about spontaneous combustion, the oven doesn’t need to be very hot - 175 degrees is plenty - well below the level of combustion. The other thing is to leave the guard assembly in the oven after turning it off and let the whole thing come back to room temp before taking it out.
Drill holes through both wood pieces into any open areas of the guard and use nuts/bolts to sandwich clamp the whole thing together flat (make sure all the dust from drilling is blown out or it will damage the guard.
